Peach City Radio Honoured at NCRC 2015
June 19, 2015 by CFUZ

On Saturday JUne 6 2015, the National Campus/Community Radio Association held its annual awards gala at the UNB Grand Hall in downtown Saint John New Brunswick. At this event - held during the 34th National Campus/Community Radio Conference - the NCRA recognized the best efforts put forth by volunteers and staff at member stations throughout the 2014/2015 eligibility period.

For the first time in its history, Peach City Radio - CFUZ - was honoured to be the recipient of an award on this national stage. We are proud to announce that PCR Board member, volunteer and show host Timothy Tweed captured the award for Best Music Program for his show Sounds from the Tenacious Hi-Fi.

"Tim is a board member, a volunteer, and he makes his podcast in his own home, on his own equipment - because we don't even have a studio yet. We just got our licence a month ago, and we are excited to win this award which is an indication of things to come from Peach City Radio in the future", Society President Dave Del Rizzo said upon accepting the award on behalf of Tim, and the Society.

President Dave Del Rizzo was himself a recipient of an Honourable Mention in the category of Volunteer of the Year for the National Campus/Community Radio Society at the gala. The organizations boasts over 6000 volunteers nationwide, and the award recognizes the amazing hard work that is done by passionate volunteers throughout the year. Many letters of support were submitted from Board members and volunteers of PCR alike.

The NCRA holds a National Campus/Community Radio Conference each year in June, hosted by a different member station each year. This year's event was hosted (admirably) by Local FM - CFMH in Saint John New Brunswick. In 2016, the conference will be hosted in Ottawa by CHUO, and in 2017 the conference returns to BC being hosted by CIVL in Abbotsford.
